Knowledge, especially in the age of information, has the potential to increase or decrease the quality of life. Knowledge is a fundamental of creating decisions and taking actions that can shape the society.

What is the importance of giving credit to the source of one's work?

One of the importances of giving credit to the source of one’s work is acknowledging the fact that it is someone else’s work. Giving credit is giving respect to the owner of the property. Another importance of citing the source of information used is that it adds credibility to one’s work. The source will be useful in checking the validity of the information.

An Information Literate Individual

An information literate individual embodies these three traits: responsible, wise, and respectful.

First, an information literate individual is responsible and accountable for the information that one uses, receives, and imparts.

Second, an information literate individual is wise. One knows the proper and right way handling information and communicating it to others for the greater good. A wise individual can identify what are the right and wrong pieces of information.

Lastly, this individual is respectful by giving credit to the owner, not offending other individuals in any way, and using appropriate ways and words to communicate the information.
